Lisa McCoy will speak on INSIDE A WRITING CONTEST. Lisa was the director of the New Mexico Book Awards in 2025. She will share data on the contest, including the scoop on what impresses reviewers. Perhaps this could be a way to boost publicity on your most recent novel.
Lisa was recently promoted to be director of New Mexico Writers, so this is a great opportunity to learn about a sister organization. Do you think we should merge activities more? Come to the meeting and tell us what you think.

MARCH 24: A panel will talk about “Historical Mysteries: Tips for Researching and Writing” at 6. The panelists will be Sue Hallgarth (author of several mysteries with Willa Cather as the protagonist) and Suzanne Stauffer (author of a mystery featuring the early tourist industry in New Mexico). The novels are set in the early 1900s. The third panelist will be Art Eisenstein talking about a novel set in the 1970s, in which his memory is a major source of facts.
May 26: A panel will talk about “The Mystery of Memoirs” at 6 pm. The panelist will be Marcia Rosen (author of My Gangster Father and Me!) and Pat Smith Wood (author of “Raising Ruby” which includes material on Ruby’s husband—a successful FBI agent).
